Sustainable spatial and real estate development

Sustainable spatial and real estate development

Discussions on the topic of sustainability are also in full swing in the real estate industry. On the one hand, they revolve around the recycling of building materials. On the other hand, they focus on the replacement of fossil fuels. The status quo is important and valuable, but often falls short. True sustainability requires a comprehensive approach that pays off!

Both the local communities and  municipalities as well as the real estate industry need to broaden their focus: away from individual buildings and towards sites, districts, municipalities and cities!

Sustainable solutions urgently require the consideration of smart and efficient land use, both in terms of climate-neutral energy supply and the important resource of land. This not only promotes ecological sustainability but also serves social sustainability by simultaneously creating the required living space.

Through:

  1. actively designed, smart (self-sufficient) energy supply,
  2. active, far-sighted and comprehensive planning of land use (e.g. by (co-)designing structure plans, land-use plans, building regulations, etc., particularly with regard to densification options)
  3. active protection and management of the areas (e.g. through appropriate building rights contracts)

ultimately also economic sustainability will be ensured.

The real estate industry can and should therefore not only react in terms of energy supply and spatial planning, but also act actively and – where possible and necessary – in co-creation with the local community an municipalities. We provide comprehensive support and advice in these areas to both the municipal sector and the real estate industry. After all, holistic spatial and real estate development creates real sustainability for the benefit of all stakeholders in real estate development!
